Glossier Brooklyn
2022Glossier Brooklyn draws inspiration from the raw materials and corner-store details found in the surrounding neighborhoods. Combining a raw, wood veneer–developed and popularized by Ettore Sottsass–with plush, textured fabrics and futuristic finishes creates a contrast that represents the brand’s aesthetic with more regionally-inspired motifs. Referencing bright, colorful candy shops and bodega counters, the maximalist display shelves show rows of colorful products with glass panes allowing customers to see the “inner workings”of the store. The exterior incorporates molding details and benches that bring a familiar, nostalgic feel to the block, and a place to sit. Curved, metal window mullions and a blue conveyor belt that delivers orders to customers adds a factory-esque feel without feeling overly industrial.
